Now, here is something you don’t really hear everyday - as it combines two of Americans favourite things into one - fat people and executions.

An American inmate on death row has said that he is just too fat to be executed. The inmate, who is 5-feet-7-inches and weighs at 267 pounds, has said that the lethal injection would have trouble finding the veins - and even if it did, it would just lessen the effect of the drug injected into him - an anesthetic meant to dull pain.

The inmate, Richard Cooey, is also said to be taking medication for migraines - which would neutralize any anesthetic and would not be asleep when they administer two other lethal injections - both which kill the inmate.

He was sentenced to death for raping and murdering two women in 1986, and will face execution on October 14 - if he is deemed not too fat for the injection. He was supposed to be executed in 2003, back when he was not fat, but he received a lost minute reprieve.
